This week’s challenge has begun! Every person who attended Elevate last night was given $5 with which to show compassion to someone. Mary’s teaching was great last night emphasizing the fact that much of Jesus’ ministry, and Elisha’s as well, was motivated out of compassion. We want more than just to serve others out of obligation, but we want to truly get God’s heart and love for others. So what can YOU do with $5??

Last night as a youth group we joined with others from the church to watch The Crossing. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I was thoroughly depressed by this movie. I’m sure this was the intention, and it worked. I was hoping against hope that the last story line would work out and then bang – they take it away.

Does anyone know if this was a retelling of an actual person’s story or if its just “based on events that have happened?” Also – what was your reaction? How will you respond to it?

OK. So now it begins. Six weeks of challenges based on the lives of Elisha and Elijah. The first week (that’s right – week 1 LOL) is ACTS OF SERVICE. So, we’ve got 164 hours from the time I post this, until we meet next week, to do at least 2 acts of service. Then come back and record it here by clicking on “comments” below this post.

1 Peter 2:12 (New Century Version)
People who do not believe are living all around you and might say that you are doing wrong. Live such good lives that they will see the good things you do and will give glory to God on the day when Christ comes again.

Its time! Back to Sunday nights after 5 years . . . daylight savings . . . all sorts of fun. So plan on coming out, bringing some friends, and we’re going to have a great time. It enough people are interested, we should do frisbee too.  Anyone interested?
