What can you do with $5?
March 30th, 2009
This week’s challenge has begun! Every person who attended Elevate last night was given $5 with which to show compassion to someone. Mary’s teaching was great last night emphasizing the fact that much of Jesus’ ministry, and Elisha’s as well, was motivated out of compassion. We want more than just to serve others out of obligation, but we want to truly get God’s heart and love for others. So what can YOU do with $5??

I’m thinking that I might go to the dollar store and buy some food to fill the trailer on Sunday. Dunno how much $5 can buy, but I guess I’ll soon find out… Anyone want to join me?

Ok, so my homeroom teacher, Mrs. George, and her husband run an orphanage in India. So in her classroom, there is a donation jar that you can put money in to help support the orphanage. And for every 10 cents you put in, you can have a mint.
So what i did with my $5 is i gave it to her, but did not get any mints…. So yeah

So when I send out youth group emails, Laura Altemus (our missionary in Cambodia) gets them. She replied to my latest email about this challenge, and said with $5 she could feed a kid for a week!!! So I sent her my $5, and so did Janine

Emily, Melissa, and I put our $5 together and gave it to an orphanage in Haiti. It’s called God’s Littlest Angels. Helping children in any way just makes me and Jesus happy

Emily, Melissa, and I put our $5 together and gave it to an orphanage in Haiti called God’s Littlest Angels. My goal was to buy a Wawa dinner for this homeless guy I see on the corner, but he wasn’t there any time I passed the week we did this. Then I saw him today and was going to buy him a Wawa sandwich when I passed coming home and he wasn’t there again…I will buy this man food at some point but for now, my $5 dollars went to children who need it too!
