July 26th – Acoustic Worship
July 26th, 2009
So I just got back from youth group…man, that was intense! Right after most people got there, it started POURING rain. Some crazy people went out and ran around; they got completely soaked. Fortunately, we had some towels left over from the Training School, so we passed those around so people didn’t drip on the carpets.

Then the power went out. We needed light to see by, so we got some candles and lit them. We had an entire acoustic worship session (and teaching) by CANDLELIGHT! How awesome is that? Lemme tell you, it was wicked cool. Something about acoustic worship brings everyone closer…I think it adds a sense of intimacy with God that we don’t usually get. What do you guys think? Did you get anything out of tonight’s worship and teaching that you don’t normally?

I agree John – it was really fun. I had a great time. And I do feel like something special happens in worship in times like that.

It was awesome! I got to stretch myself in some new ways since I knew everyone around me could hear me singing. Christian, Shane…you both did a great job with worship!
There’s something about watching a sheet of rain coming rushing at me that makes me extremely happy and closer to God. It’s amazing how simple things such as storms or sunlight or nature can show us so much about God. I tend to get so caught up in my daily life that I take these little things for granted. It’s nice when I remember to sit back and just enjoy the moment for a while.

Hey, the people that went out are not crazy, cause i was one of the first ones out there.
But the worship in the dark was pretty awesome, i actually would have liked to stay outside in the rain to have a face time with God. Something about severe weather seems to tear and strip away everything else except for myself and God. It was a great youth group.

I have to say a teaching by candlelight is memorable…not sure if that is a good thing or not

I think that there is something in it when we normally rely on electricity, we could easily had an excuse to not worship and cancel the meeting. I know I wasn’t there, but i have had times like that and they are so much fun.

I definitely liked that youth group. I think it was the candlelight teaching that really made it
There’s something about the power going out and rain falling down that just says “memory” lol. Great time to bond with each other with fun times and with God through an intimate, quiet(er) worship environment.
