When’s God there?
September 27th, 2009
Tonight we split up into small groups and talked about when we thought God’s presence was strongest. When did we encounter God the most strongly throughout the week? How many times a week? Why do we feel His presence in some situations more strongly than in others? These questions aren’t easy to answer. They’re different for each person. Try not to take the easy way out as you answer these questions:
1. When is God’s presence the strongest for you?
2. Do you feel like you TRULY experience the full presence of God on a regular basis?
3. Who or what do you think has been the greatest influence on how you experience God?

Ha! first comment
anyway….
God’s presence is probably the strongest for me during worship…but sometimes is really strong during special quiet times. I do think that I experience God’s presence to a certain level on a regular basis, but how strong His presence seems varies to me. I would have to say my friends for the third questions. They have all contributed to the way that I view worship and have inspired me to come up with creative quiet times.

1. God’s presence is strongest for me when I’m with a bunch of other people worshiping or praying. Or occasionally when I’m interceding.
2. Not really. Even during youth group in worship when I feel God the easiest, I always feel like I could go to a deeper level. I remember during Project Timothy, on the last night of worship we all had together, I was able to completely let go and TRUELY worship God with all my heart and not caring who saw me or what I looked like. Moments like these are rare for me, but I think I should work toward that being the new normal worship for me.
3. I have to agree with Rachel and say my friends. I remember several years ago watching Mary or Becca dancing in the front of the room or people around me raising their hands and thinking, “Wow, I wish I could do that!” And eventually I DID do it.
Unfortunately, friends can also have a negative effect. If my friends or the people around me are distracted (-cough-), or not feeling well, that can make me distracted too.

1!: Strongest when worship/prayer/Bible study goes beyond what I expect it to be and exceeds my dumb box. If i don’t make a box, great
[[2.3]]: i kinda get the feeling Taliah expressed, where u always feel like you could go deeper… but God definitely blesses me with a refreshing dose of his presence abt 2 times a week, sometimes even 3.
3 x 10^0: God likes to talk to me thru music. i like it a lot (both the music part and getting stuff out of it lol). friends do challenge me sometimes too. the biggest way i come to experience God is when i respond to his calling.
(For the math geeks who read this, all of the expressions i put up there equaled 1, 2, and 3, respectively
